It makes no sense. Did they really expect everyone to go grind Way of the Strong to level up 70 times before jumping into the DLC?I've made it to Maria after dying like a billion times (always in either 1 or 2 hits from even casual enemies) and I was excited to jump straight into the second DLC, but I can't freaking beat her. All the Youtube tutorials I watch are just over-leveled people fighting her, so it doesn't apply to me. I'm Lvl 120 and it feels like being Lvl 1 would make no difference. It's stupid.
